Flattop Mountain is the descriptive name given to this non-descript (12,324') summit that sits on the Continental Divide in the center of Rocky Mountain National Park. Accessed easily from the Bear Lake trailhead, this broad and gently rising mountain as seen from the west and east, is a steep-sided and dramatic escarpment viewed on it's northern or southern aspects. The Dragontail Spires rise from the southeastern end of Flattop Mountain with the opposite, northwestern side containing the many Ptarmigan Finger couloirs and ribs.
