The east face of Longs Peak is one of the steepest and highest mountain faces in the lower 48 states and  the snow, mixed, and ice routes in this granite paradise are typically in prime shape in the spring season.  This photo was taken on the morning of May 7th while on a journey to Chasm Lake and the route Martha on the south face of Mt. Lady Washington.   Sunshine with no wind, firm snow, and fresh ice were the perfect ingredients for a great day in this cirque which includes the north face of Mount Meeker (13,911') and the striking Ship's Prow.
