Stannage Edge in the Peak District National Park of England on a sunny mid-winter day.
These two climbers were next to us at Stannage Edge on one of our few days of climbing in England while visiting with Joanne's family in Sheffield, England for the Holidays and New Year. It's always fun to return back to the magnificent gritstone edges that define the borders of the moorland in this region containing one of England's oldest national parks and where 120 years ago began the sport of rock climbing.
This year we saw little rain in England over the New Year and lots of cold, starry nights. A few sunny days kept the vampires at bay until the very snowy and icy day that I boarded a plane and returned to an upper 50's heat wave in Estes Park in January?
Many climbers and walkers were out in the Peak District on the milder days and with weather like this, it was possible to get lots done if you got out while the sun was shining and managed to avoid the flu bug that was hitting England hard this winter.
