Longs Peak at 14,255' is the highest point in Rocky Mountain National Park and it's west face is the route of choice to the summit in the winter months when avalanche danger and loose snow make the east face routes too difficult and dangerous most of the season.  Accessed via Glacier Gorge, the wide valley at it's base, this 6 mile approach and 5,000' elevation gain from the trailhead to the summit makes for one of the best mid-winter climbs of a "14er" in Colorado.
